Saidou Alioum remains confident despite the U17 Lions’ false start at the Africa Cup of Nations
Having lost to Ivory Coast in their opening match, Cameroon can no longer afford any slip-ups.
Despite this defeat, manager Saidou Alioum refuses to give in to panic. Speaking to the press, the Cameroonian tactician acknowledged the quality of the Ivorian side whilst regretting the defeat in a competition where every point counts. All eyes are now on the next match against Uganda, considered decisive for the rest of the tournament.
“We’ve just played against a very good Ivory Coast side. In a four-team competition, it’s important to avoid losing the first match. For us, the next match will therefore be a must-win to stay in the competition. Given that Ivory Coast and Uganda already have three points, and that we and the DRC have zero points, this match against Uganda is crucial. We had a training session today and I asked the players to stay focused”
Cameroon lost 2-0 to Ivory Coast in Group B in their opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations, which has been taking place in Morocco since 13 May.
