Jose Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid has already sparked the first disagreements with club president Florentino Perez. The two sides are at odds over the composition of the coaching staff.
According to EsRadio, the point of contention is renowned fitness coach Antonio Pintus. Mourinho does not plan to include him in his staff and intends to entrust the team’s physical preparation to Antonio Dias—a specialist he previously worked with at Benfica.
Meanwhile, Florentino Perez traditionally takes a hands-on approach to shaping the first team’s structure and, as a rule, the club president has the final say in personnel matters. Antonio Pintus is regarded as one of the specialists who enjoys the full trust of Real’s management.
A similar situation occurred last summer when Xabi Alonso took charge. The Spanish coach also initially refused to work with Pintus, but after some time the Italian was incorporated into the coaching staff at the president’s insistence.
