Russo to Pay Nearly $1 Million to Join Boca for a Third Spell

Miguel Ángel Russo is set to become Boca Juniors’ new head coach, but his appointment has yet to be formalized. As reported by TN, a key breakthrough was reached on Thursday during a meeting between Russo’s legal team and San Lorenzo’s board. The deal involves Russo forgiving unpaid wages and paying an estimated $900,000, which covers the remaining value of his contract plus compensation for damages.
Once the agreement is signed, Russo will be free to return to Boca, where he previously managed 115 matches across two spells, winning 57 and securing the club’s last Copa Libertadores title in 2007.
Boca resumed training earlier this week at their Ezeiza facility, preparing for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. With Fernando Gago’s contract officially terminated, the team is under temporary supervision until Russo’s arrival becomes official.
