Potential replacement! Gavin Hunt is reported to be in forefront to replace Steve Barker as Stellenbosch FC coach

Gavin Hunt is reported to be in talks with Stellenbosch FC as a replacement for Steve Barker.

Hunt is jobless after parting ways with Betway Premiership newcomers in Durban City.

And now Stellies are said to be eyeing him following the abrupt departure of long serving gaffer Barker.

Stellies are third from bottom and a coach who joins them will tasked with ensuring the Cape Winelands side preserve their PSL status as they are now flirting with relegation.

The ongoing festive and Africa Cup of Nations recess is seen as an opportune period for replacing coaches as it can help with familiarising him with his new players.

Hunt did mention earlier this season that he misses his family in Cape Town while still with Durban City, meaning an opportunity to be closer to them may be ideal for him.

The availability of the job at the PSL side may see him join them as he has more reasons to sign with them than to let this chance go.
