Snooker legend Ronnie O'Sullivan has turned a new page in his life by obtaining residency in Hong Kong, a status confirmed by city authorities. The seven-time world champion explained that his decision was influenced by recommendations from friends, the region’s cultural appeal, a favorable tax system, and work commitments in Southeast Asia, where he now spends about 70% of his time.
Details: O'Sullivan’s official residency status was granted through Hong Kong’s Quality Migrant Admission Scheme, which aims to attract highly skilled professionals. The news was shared via social media, and Legislative Council member Doreen Kong Yuk-fun highlighted that the snooker star’s presence will positively contribute to the city.
Quote: “If you want to live a good life, come to Hong Kong. My plan is to work here, relax, enjoy the local food, and perhaps play some snooker. Currently, about 70% of my work is based in China and Asia, so it makes sense to create comfortable living conditions here. Hong Kong is just the beginning. I have friends in Macau who are also encouraging me to explore opportunities in the region,” O'Sullivan said at a press conference before the Macau Snooker Masters tournament.
It should be added that on Sunday, Ronnie will face Mink Nutcharut at the International Championship in Nanjing.
