Previously, the International Football Association Board decided that the VAR assistant could review incidents involving incorrectly shown yellow cards. However, when it came to corners, the idea was dismissed due to the complexity of implementation.
It is reported that IFAB has agreed to revisit the discussion around corners and VAR as early as January.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 across three countries: the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
