Pharaohs vs Lions: June Showdown Looms as Cameroon Chase Revenge Against Egypt’s Dominance

A blockbuster friendly clash could be on the cards as Cameroon and Egypt are reportedly set to face off in the June international window, according to Onze Masr. The Pharaohs may also meet South Korea, but all eyes are on a potential rematch with the Indomitable Lions.
Egypt: Cameroon’s Longstanding Nemesis
The record speaks for itself: in 18 encounters, Egypt has won 10 of them, drawn 4, and lost only 4. Egypt is Cameroon's real adversary on the continent because of its decades-long domination.
Since 1984, Cameroon has not beaten Egypt in any friendly match. Out of five non-official games, the Lions have suffered four defeats and managed just one draw.
Painful Recent Memories
The last time these two giants met was in the AFCON 2022 semi-final in Yaoundé. After 120 goalless minutes, Egypt triumphed in a penalty shootout (3-1), knocking out the hosts.
Their last friendly meeting dates back to May 2012, when Mohamed Aboutrika led Egypt to a 2-1 win.
Should this clash be confirmed, Cameroon will have a golden chance to break a 40-year jinx, while Egypt looks to extend their dominance.
