Peace! Helman Mkhalele confirms Hugo Broos and Mbekezeli Mbokazi have made peace in the Bafana Bafana camp ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations
Hugo Broos and Mbekezeli Mbokazi have smoked the peace pipe.
The coach and the player’s rift was at its peak earlier this week when the Chicago Fire-bound player arrived late at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria.
Bafana are using the facilities in the country’s capital as their base ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco which starts next weekend.
All players reported to camp on Monday except for Siyabonga Ngezana who was still playing for his Romanian club, FCSB. Mbokazi failed to report on time like the rest of the group which rubbed Broos the wrong way.
Broos’ assistant coach confirmed that all is now well between the Bafana coach and the player.
“I won’t go to the actual what you call, each and every point,” said the former South African international.
“But I’d say that issue has been resolved because it is important for us to make sure that we resolve issues like that in order to make sure again that we continue with our preparations.
“So the issue of Mbokazi has been settled.”
Bafana plays Ghana on Tuesday in a friendly international to gauge how far their preparations are in a game which takes place at Soweto’s Dobsonville Stadium.
