After suffering a life altering event in 2023 that left him blind in his left eye, Minoungou's professional football player who can only see with one eye. After undergoing surgery, he was told that his career might be over. He wouldn't give up, though.
“Since then, I’ve played with one eye”
In a moving interview, Minoungou revealed:
“It was one of the toughest times of my life. I had a chance to break into the first team, but then came the eye problems and surgery. Since then, I’ve played with one eye—and I’m convinced I can be better than those who see with both.”
That spirit earned him a four-year contract with Seattle Sounders in summer 2024, and since then, he has played 35 matches, scoring 1 goal and delivering 5 assists, cementing his place in the squad for the world’s most prestigious club competition.
