One Million Euro: Zamalek Clears Jaime Pacheco’s Dues to Lift Transfer Ban

Zamalek SC, under the leadership of club president Hussein Labib, has officially settled the financial dispute with former Portuguese coach Jaime Pacheco, paying him €1 million in overdue wages.
The payment was completed on Monday, marking a critical step toward lifting the club’s transfer ban.
Why the Ban?
The Cairo giants had been prohibited from registering new players due to unresolved debts owed to:
- Jaime Pacheco (former head coach)
- Khalid Boutaib (former Moroccan striker)
Earlier, Zamalek paid €2.5 million to Boutaib in compliance with a Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling, fully settling that case.
Transfer Door Set to Reopen
With the latest payment to Pacheco, Zamalek has now:
- Closed all major FIFA cases related to outstanding debts
- Paved the way to lift the registration freeze ahead of the upcoming transfer window
Zamalek is trying to rebuild its team after a difficult season and the recent departure of important players, thus this comes at a critical moment.
What’s Next?
- Zamalek officials are expected to:
- Formally notify FIFA of the payment completion
Submit documents to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to reactivate their ability to sign and register players
