The Nigerian national team had a rocky start in their World Cup qualifying campaign, drawing with South Africa (1-1) and losing to Benin (1-2). However, despite these setbacks, the "Super Eagles" remain optimistic and believe they will be part of the international tournament in North America.

Details: Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, the president of the Nigerian Football Federation, is confident that since the matches in June, the team has shown progress, and he maintains faith in the players' ability to qualify for the World Cup.

Quote: "I am very confident that we will make it to the next World Cup in 2026. I know we have started very poorly, collecting only three points in four matches, but if you look at the dynamics, progress is evident. Everyone knows what is at stake, and we will certainly do everything possible to support the team," the NFF president said in an interview with TV360.

Reminder: The Nigerian national team failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, losing to Ghana in the third round. In the qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup, the "Super Eagles" began with Finidi George as head coach, but he did not stay in the position for long. The coach had previously assessed his failure at the helm of the Nigerian national team.
