Tennis legend Andy Murray will not compete in the singles tournament at Wimbledon 2024.

The British veteran has not fully recovered from the cyst removal surgery he underwent just over a week ago.

"Unfortunately, despite working incredibly hard on his recovery since his operation just over a week ago, Andy has taken the very difficult decision not to play the singles this year", Murray's team announced.

The 37-year-old Briton was set to face Czech player Tomáš Macháč. Instead, 33-year-old Belgian David Goffin will take Murray's place.

However, Murray will still have the chance to bid farewell to Wimbledon by playing in the doubles tournament alongside his brother Jamie.
