Legendary British cyclist Bradley Wiggins revealed that after facing bankruptcy, he received unexpected financial support from the controversial Lance Armstrong, Daily Mail reports.
Wiggins, a former Tour de France champion and eight-time Olympic gold medalist, is enduring tough times. His company was declared bankrupt after failing to repay debts amounting to nearly £1 million.
Following the financial collapse, the former athlete found himself destitute and even homeless, resorting to sleeping in various places, including his ex-wife's house. The dire situation also led him to consider selling his cherished Olympic gold medals.
Wiggins also admitted to battling psychological struggles, including alcohol abuse, stemming from childhood trauma. He disclosed that between the ages of 13 and 16, he was a victim of abuse by his first coach.
Help, however, came from an unexpected source: Lance Armstrong offered financial assistance.
"Lance has helped me a lot over the years and even more this year. Lance is a good man... And I'm not saying that to condone what he did, we all know that. He has a heart deep down," Wiggins shared on The High Performance Podcast.
