A rare controversy has erupted in Argentine football, as Chacarita Juniors has publicly accused Central Córdoba of Santiago del Estero of copying their iconic red, white, and black striped jersey. The dispute emerged after Central Córdoba unveiled a new alternate kit for the 2025 Copa Libertadores, which Chacarita claims is nearly identical in design and color layout to their own historic shirt. The Buenos Aires club issued a strongly worded statement calling it a “replica” of their traditional kit, reports Bolavip.
Chacarita also stressed that its colors and design are officially registered with the national trademark office, and that Central Córdoba never sought permission or communicated with them. The club argues that the colors bear no relation to Central Córdoba’s usual black and white palette, and accuses the SDE side of causing reputational and commercial harm. Chacarita has demanded that Central Córdoba withdraw the kit immediately and warned of legal action under Argentine intellectual property law if the situation is not resolved swiftly.
