Interesting gesture! Airline honors Ronaldo in an unusual way after his departure from the national team
Cristiano Ronaldo received an unusual mark of respect after announcing his departure from the Portugal national team. Airline Transavia decided to immortalize the footballer’s legendary shirt number by making one of the seats on its flights unavailable for booking.
The seat in question is 7C on aircraft operating flights to Funchal — Ronaldo’s hometown on the island of Madeira. The carrier announced that the seat would no longer be offered to passengers. The company’s official Instagram account featured a photo of the Portuguese star’s number seven shirt placed on the corresponding seat.
Ronaldo announced the end of his international career after a dispute with coach Jorge Jesus. The forward left the national team camp during the most recent international break after failing to play a single minute in the match against Norway (2:1).
As a result, the 41-year-old footballer ended his international career with an impressive record: 234 appearances and 146 goals for Portugal. However, the number seven shirt cannot be retired by the national team itself — FIFA rules require the use of numbers 1 through 26 in official matches.
