Robertson admitted that he and Diogo once dreamed of playing at the World Cup together.
Details: After Scotland's historic victory over Denmark in the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying group stage—which secured the team's direct ticket to the tournament—the 31-year-old Scottish captain and defender, Andrew Robertson, confessed that the sweetness of victory was overshadowed by thoughts of the late Diogo Jota, his former Liverpool teammate:
“Today, I just couldn't get my mate Diogo Jota out of my head. We talked so much about the World Cup. He missed Qatar because of injury, and I missed it because Scotland didn't qualify. We always discussed what it would be like to play in this World Cup. I know he's somewhere smiling at me tonight. I just couldn't get him out of my thoughts all day,” Robertson admitted.

The Scotland national team has qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 26 years, finishing ahead of Denmark, Greece, and Belarus in their group.
Robertson joined Liverpool in 2017 and, since 2020, shared the dressing room with the late Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away this summer in a car accident.
