Scotland claim a dramatic victory and qualify directly for the World Cup

In the final round of 2026 World Cup qualifying, Scotland hosted Denmark in a showdown that would decide which team secured a direct ticket to the tournament.

It seemed the match was destined to end in a draw — until stoppage time arrived. Kieran Tierney found the net to restore Scotland’s lead.

This time, the goal did more than tilt the scoreline. It sent the hosts straight to the World Cup finals. Scotland defeat Denmark, leapfrog them by two points, and secure direct qualification without needing the play-offs.
