Hugo Broos: Oswin Appollis had a slight knock against Ghana but it is nothing major for him to miss the Africa Cup of Nations for Bafana Bafana
Oswin Appollis is not out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Orlando Pirates midfielder limped off when Bafana Bafana won 1-0 against Ghana in a friendly international yesterday and it was feared the player may miss the 35th edition of Afcon.
But coach Hugo Broos moved quickly to allay those fears.
This is because Appollis has become an integral member and a dependable player for Bafana Bafana and his absence may mean Bafana are a bit weak.
“He just got a kick on his leg, and maybe tomorrow he will have a little problem,” Broos told SABC after the game.
“But ok, it’s nothing major.”
The Belgian coach desires that Bafana do well to beat their previous Bronze medal finish in the last tournament in Ivory Coast two years ago.
“I think we did it very well two years ago at AFCON, and I think we can’t be happy if we don’t come back with the same result. I think this year we have to go even more,” he said.
Actually, Broos want to reach the final.
“But this is the tournament that is very difficult, but I think we have the qualities to do it. We will try to bring gold,” Broos said confidently.
Bafana play Angola on Monday in their opening group match.
