Hugo Broos: No need for Bafana Bafana foreign contingent to fly to South Africa anymore as they will now fly directly to Morocco
The Bafana Bafana trio of Lyle Foster, Shandre Campbell and Sphephelo Sithole will no longer report to the Bafana camp in Pretoria but they will join the rest of the squad in Morocco.
Hugo Broos revealed the trio no longer have to report to the High Performance Centre in Pretoria as the team will leave on Wednesday, which makes no sense for them to arrive in the country.
Foster played for his English Premiership side Burnely when they lost 3-2 to Fulham on Saturday, Campbell also played in Belgium for Club Brugge yesterday while Sithole will play for his side tonight.
But good news for Broos is that Romanian-based defender Siyabonga Ngezana arrived in camp.
“We’re still not complete [as a team], Ngezana arrived yesterday [Sunday], it was something good cause he played last Thursday,” said Broos.
“There’s still Foster, Sithole and Campbell. Sithole is playing today, Campbell played yesterday Sunday, 10 minutes and Foster played on Saturday.
“We decided to let them come directly to Marrakech because we didn’t see the reason why they must come here with us also playing against Ghana tomorrow [Tuesday], as we’re taking flights to Morocco on Wednesday.
“So, we will see Foster, Sithole and Campbell when we arrive in Marrakech on Thursday.”
Bafana have Angola, Zimbabwe and Egypt in their Group and open their Afcon campaign next Monday against Angola.
