Elated! Mohamed Salah expressed joy at Egypt's 1-0 win via his penalty spot kick over South Africa at Afcon to ensure qualification to next round
Mohamed Salaha has praised his country’s preparation against Bafana Bafana as their foundation for the 1-0 win.
The Liverpool striker netted the penalty for Egypt to beat South Africa by an odd goal in the group match at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Salara profited from a VAR decision after his tussle with South Africa defender Khuliso Mudau was seen as an obstruction by the right-back.
As the referee gave the spot-kick, Salah scored the solitary goal from 12-yards out at the Stade Adra Stadium in Agadir to beat Ronwen Williams.
"We secured the win because we had a good plan and earned the 3 points, which is the most important thing," Salah told BEIN Sports.
"The stadium was full, and I am proud to play in front of the Moroccan fans. We hope to continue moving forward like this."
This win ensured Egypt go into the next round of the competition having secured six points form their first two games of the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
