Chinese tennis player Zhang Shuai was defeated in the first round of Wimbledon by the 12th-ranked Daria Kasatkina with a score of 3-6, 0-6.

This loss marked Zhang's 21st consecutive defeat in the WTA tour, a streak that began in February 2023 in Lyon.

Notably, Zhang has repeatedly set and broken her own record for consecutive losses in women's tennis, and now she has tied the longest losing streak in tennis history. Vincent Spadea also lost 21 consecutive matches from October 1999 to June 2000.

Interestingly, Zhang does not face similar issues in doubles. Just a week ago, she reached the finals of the Birmingham tournament alongside Miyu Kato.

Another Chinese player, Zheng Qinwen, also exited Wimbledon early after an unexpected loss to Lulu Sun.
