Cedric Kaze opens about his relationship with former Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasredine Nabi
Cedric Kaze has opened up about his relationship with former Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasredine Nabi.
Kaze and his assistant Ben Youssef Khalil replaced Nabi at Chiefs after the club parted ways with Nabi.
Kaze and Khalil are said to have conspired to see Nabi sacked the Soweto club but that's something Kaze declines.
Earlier this week, the Burundian-born Nabi and Khalil were let go by Amakhosi having guided them to a third place finish, their best position in six years.
"You know in those kind of situations when the head coach is removed, there is always things that happen and when they chose the assistant coaches to take over, most of the times people think there's something behind, that's how the relationship gets, as you said 'strained'," Kaze said on 947's MSW Sports show.
"It's unfortunate that situation happened, me and Nabi have always been in good terms, we haven't spoken since that time but he's someone I can call any time and I'm pretty sure that he can call me anytime
"It's true, those phone calls have not happened since he left."
Kaze said he was with Nabi on his last day in South Africa when he left Chiefs which is contrary to the talk that they were behind his sacking.
“He never shared that, because even on his last day with him at the club, we were together, we spent the day together, he said goodbye but there was no animosity about how he left at that time,” he added.
