Cedric Kaze has shared what he told Kaizer Chiefs players after the Soweto derby ahead of their clash this evening against Richards Bay in KZN

Cedric Kaze has given the Kaizer Chiefs players on what it takes to bounce back from their Soweto derby defeat to Orlando Pirates.

Chiefs were thumped 3-0 by their chief rivals on Saturday in what was a one-sided affair belonging to Pirates which also dented Amakhosi’s title charge.

“The only way to bounce back is to work,” Kaze stated ahead of their sold out Betway Premeirship clash this evening against Richards Bay at Umhlathuze Sports Complex.

“I just spoke to the players right now and I told them we have a very, very big debt on our fans. The only way to redeem ourselves is to pick up points in the next games.

“To go there and show that what happened today was an accident, even it was a derby, and it shouldn’t have arrived.

“But the only way is to keep our heads up, work very hard, go on the next games and try to pick up as much points as we can.”

Kaze also stated that they go back and do the basics right, focus on keeping a clean sheet like they have done so often in the first half of the campaign.

“The only way is to go back and to show the players and everyone what has worked before,” he added.

“Sometimes it’s not even complicated, you go basic things first, try first to defend better, to not concede goals.

“I’m pretty sure that in the first 15 games of the league we were a team that did not concede a lot of goals, I’m pretty sure that gives confidence as well to the players.

“But at the same time, we have to acknowledge that we have been a little bit unlucky with a lot of injuries, especially the players at the back, and you have to change the back every game, and that contributed as well to not having a good record.”
