Lee Carsley made a successful debut as the head coach of the England national team. In his first match in charge, the "Three Lions" defeated Ireland 2-0.

Notably, Carsley became the first British coach to win his first game as the national team manager since Joe Mercer in 1974.

Additionally, Carsley kept his promise and did not sing the English national anthem.

Before the match, the coach had stated that he would not sing the UK (and England) anthem, explaining that he would be entirely focused on the game.

This decision sparked mixed reactions from fans even before the match. During the game, England supporters also expressed their displeasure on social media.

"Who does he think he is? What is he playing at?" some fans wrote on social media.

It's worth noting that Carsley was born in Birmingham but represented the Republic of Ireland during his playing career, earning 39 caps for the Irish national team.
