Calm in the face of unrest. PSG head coach speaks out on violence in France
Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique commented on the recent outbreaks of violence in France, calling for a clear distinction between street incidents and football.
Details: During the pre-match press conference, the Spanish coach stressed that his primary responsibility remains preparing the team for sporting competition.
“Violence in France? I’m a football coach. I have my opinion, but I’m not the person who should be talking about it — I’m here to talk about football,” the Parisian manager said bluntly in response to journalists’ questions about social tensions.
Despite the worrying situation outside the stadiums, the red-and-blues’ head coach expressed hope that the upcoming match would go ahead safely.
“Obviously, we don’t like this kind of violence. I’m not afraid, and I hope the match can take place under normal conditions,” Enrique added, counting on the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies.
It is worth noting that ensuring safety at stadiums and in surrounding areas remains one of the most sensitive issues in France’s Ligue 1 due to frequent clashes between supporter groups. Luis Enrique has been in charge of the capital club since the summer of 2023, and under his leadership, Paris Saint-Germain have repeatedly shown their ability to remain focused on sporting objectives regardless of external circumstances.
