José Mourinho is taking a page out of Luis Enrique's playbook to keep his Real Madrid stars fresh.

Details: According to MARCA, the Portuguese manager has decided to introduce a new recovery strategy at Real Madrid, inspired by the methods used at Paris Saint-Germain. The plan involves more than traditional squad rotation: key players will receive additional days off and carefully scheduled breaks to recover both physically and mentally throughout the season.

The first players to benefit from Mourinho's new approach were Arda Güler and Aurélien Tchouaméni. Both midfielders were deliberately left out of the squad for Wednesday's Champions League encounter against AEK Athens, allowing them to recover instead of travelling to Greece.

However, the Portuguese coach has no intention of limiting this initiative to just two players. More members of the squad will receive similar treatment as the campaign progresses, with the coaching staff monitoring individual workloads and determining when additional rest is necessary.

The strategy is intended to reduce accumulated fatigue and minimize injury risks during a demanding season. Mourinho wants his most important players to remain in optimal condition, particularly when the decisive stages of domestic and European competitions arrive.

It's worth noting that, according to AS, Güler had featured in 13 of Real Madrid's first 14 matches this season before the trip to Athens, completing the full 90 minutes just once.
