Veron Mosengo-Omba, the secretary general of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has been exonerated of fraud charges after the swiss public prosecutor's office conducted an inquiry. Due to lack of adequate evidence, the investigation involving suspected improper transfers to swiss bank accounts has been closed.

When the congolese FA official willingly came before authorities in Fribourg, Switzerland, in November 2024, he insisted on his innocence throughout the inquiry. Although allegations of cash transactions and incentives exceeding contractual restrictions prompted questions regarding transparency, Mosengo-Omba stated that the transactions were legitimate pay for his work at CAF.

CAF welcomed Swiss authorities’ decision, reaffirming its commitment to ethics, governance, and transparency under the leadership of president Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

Mosengo-Omba, appointed CAF Secretary General in 2021, is former FIFA executive with extensive experience in football administration. CAF emphasized its ongoing dedication to strong governance practices as part of its operational framework.

This decision reinforces CAF’s stance on compliance and accountability, as the organization continues to uphold its reputation within the global football community.
