Boca Locks in Braida for Club World Cup as New Signing

According to TyC Sports, Boca Juniors have sealed the deal for Malcom Braida, confirming him as their second signing for the Club World Cup. The 28-year-old left-back is moving from San Lorenzo for approximately USD 1.8 million—slightly above his buy-out clause.
Braida has passed his medicals and is traveling to Miami alongside Marco Pellegrino to join Miguel Ángel Russo’s squad. At San Lorenzo, he earned respect through 137 appearances, seven goals, and nine assists, successfully transitioning from winger to full-back.
Negotiations weren’t smooth. San Lorenzo valued him at nearly USD 2.5 million, while Boca initially offered his clause amount (USD 1.2 million). Eventually, they struck a compromise that satisfied both sides. Crucially, the deal was finalized ahead of the FIFA June 10 deadline, allowing him to be registered for the tournament.
Versatile across positions—defense, midfield, wing—Braida brings tactical flexibility, energy, and track mileage. His arrival complements Pellegrino, balancing youth with adaptability. Russo now has a reliable option to confront high-level opponents like Benfica and Bayern.
Landing both Pellegrino and Braida positions Boca well on defense and long-term squad development. Beyond strengthening the lineup, this move signals Boca’s broader ambition: to build a competitive core ready for international challenges.
