Bafana Bafana's Tylon Smith: I hope to do well for QPR and gain promotion to the English Premiership with the team
Tylon Smith has revealed what gives him sleepless nights in England.
The Bafana Bafana right-back is struggling to sleep since he signed for English Championship side Queens Park rangers.
And the reason he cannot sleep properly is because he would like to see his side gain promotion to the English Premiership.
“I just wanna win titles with QPR and I just wish that as a team, we [get promoted] to the Premier League. That’s my hope,” Smith told the QPR media department.
Smith is in Morocco with Bafana as coach Hugo Broos called him to be part of the national side together with Shandre Campbell as two youngsters to gain exposure and experience.
He left South Africa for the United Kingdom in the off-season and made his debut in his club’s 3-2 loss to Plymouth in the Carabao Cup.
He played the full match in that loss. Smith then described the difference in the game between South Africa and England.
“Here [England], it’s a little bit different because the level is higher and it’s quicker here compared to the football in South Africa,” said Smith, who left South African having not made his senior team debut for Stellenbosch FC said.
“You don’t have much time on the ball here, if you can think about it, you have like two touches on the ball. But in South Africa, you have [much] time on the ball.
“And in South Africa, there isn’t that much physique but here they [play] a lot more physical.”
When asked about his goals for the team, Smith stated that he hopes to help QPR win promotion to the Premier League.
“My aim is to fight for the team often on the pitch, stop goals,” he added.
