Atlético Madrid has gone on the offensive following a controversial Champions League semifinal.
Details: According to Marca, this morning the "Colchoneros" management officially contacted UEFA, demanding clarification on a number of contentious incidents that occurred during the match against Arsenal. The club believes the refereeing decisions directly influenced the outcome and deprived the team of a deserved shot at success.
The Spanish club's complaints are highly specific. Atlético is outraged by the incident involving Giuliano Simeone's fall after a push from Calafiori—the officials called an offside, although the Argentine started his run from his own half.
There was also fury over an incident with Antoine Griezmann: the striker was stepped on in the penalty area, but no penalty was awarded due to a questionable foul by Poubil, which, in Atlético's view, never actually occurred.
Reminder: Atlético and Argentina star is undergoing a medical examination and risks missing the World Cup.
