Details: Mexico national team goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa shared an emotional post on Instagram following the team's exit from the 2026 home World Cup.

Mexico above all. This has been the greatest honor of my life. Thank you for making our hearts beat faster, for believing in us, and for always being by our side. I love you, Mexico!" wrote Ochoa.

Before the tournament kicked off, the 40-year-old keeper announced he would retire after the World Cup. Ochoa featured in just one match at the tournament, coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute against the Czech Republic—a match Mexico won 3-0 in the third round of the group stage.

For Guillermo, this was his sixth World Cup and the fourth in which he took the field. In 2006 and 2010, the goalkeeper was included in Mexico's squad but did not play.

Over the course of his storied career, Ochoa played for América, Ajaccio, Málaga, Granada, Standard, Salernitana, AVS, and AEL.

Reminder: How dare he? Mexico's coach swears at England star.
