Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz claimed the ATP1000 title in Indian Wells, defeating Daniil Medvedev in the final.

In the first set, the 20-year-old Spaniard fought back from a 0-3 deficit and edged out Medvedev in the tiebreak with a score of 7-5. The second set saw no contest as Alcaraz dominated his opponent with a score of 6-1. For defending his championship title at the BNP Paribas Open, Alcaraz will receive $1.1 million USD.

This marks Alcaraz's fifth victory in the Masters series tournaments. Thus, he becomes the second tennis player to achieve such a feat before turning 21. Additionally, Alcaraz is only the second player in the history of the Indian Wells tournament to win the men's singles event several years before turning 21. The previous player to accomplish this was Boris Becker in 1987-88.

Alcaraz boasts a 23.8% win rate in Masters series tournaments, trailing only Novak Djokovic (31.3%) and Rafael Nadal (28.1%).

We would like to remind you that Iga Sventek defeated Sakkari and won the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells.
