Swiatek defeated Sakkari and won the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells

The WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells concluded with a final match between Maria Sakkari from Greece and the world No. 1 player, Iga Swiatek from Poland.

This marked their sixth encounter on the court, and now the score is level at 3-3. Interestingly, the last time they met was also in the final of Indian Wells in 2022. Back then, Swiatek easily defeated her opponent with a score of 6-4, 6-1.

This final turned out to be similar. Iga closed out her opponent easily in just 1 hour and 9 minutes, securing another victory in her career. Sakkari managed to challenge her only in the first set, but ultimately lost. In the second set, Swiatek didn't give her opponent any chances and confidently won the set without conceding a single game to Sakkari.
