AFCON 2025: Eric Chelle Confirms Injury Concerns for Nwabali and Onyeka Ahead of Uganda Clash
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has confirmed that goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali and midfielder Frank Onyeka are dealing with minor injury issues ahead of Nigeria’s final group-stage match against Uganda at the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Chelle revealed that Nwabali is currently experiencing discomfort in his knee. The goalkeeper, however, is expected to undergo further medical assessment before a final decision is made on his availability for the fixture.
The coach also disclosed that Frank Onyeka picked up a knock to his ankle during Nigeria’s previous group match against Tunisia. While the injury is not believed to be serious, Onyeka will also be closely monitored by the medical team.
Providing a brief update, Chelle said:
“Nwabali is feeling pain in his knee. Frank is feeling pain in his ankle. We will check them.”
