Nigeria finished top of Group C at AFCON 2025 after winning all three matches to collect nine points. The group delivered early drama, with Nigeria and Tunisia both winning their opening games before meeting in a thrilling encounter. The Super Eagles edged Tunisia 3-2, while Uganda and Tanzania shared a 1-1 draw, a result that later proved costly for the Cranes as Tanzania advanced as one of the best third-placed teams.
Across six matches, several players stood out, leading Dailysports to select a best starting eleven. Tanzania goalkeeper Zuberi Foba impressed with crucial saves, while Tunisia’s Ali Abdi, Elyes Skhiri and Hannibal Mejbri provided balance and creativity.
Nigeria dominated the team, with Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi anchoring defence, Wilfred Ndidi controlling midfield, and Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze shining in attack. Tunisia forward Elias Achouri also made the cut after a strong start. Leading the line is Victor Osimhen, whose power and movement troubled every defence and capped Nigeria’s flawless group-stage campaign.
The selection reflects consistency, impact and influence shown by players throughout an entertaining group phase.
