A transgender woman will compete in the Paralympics for the first time in history. Who is she?

The 2024 Paralympics in Paris have yet to begin, but they are already marked by a significant controversy.
For the first time in history, a transgender woman will compete at the Paralympic Games. Her name is Valentina Petrillo, a 51-year-old representing Italy in track events for visually impaired athletes.
In her youth, she was a man named Fabrizio. Petrillo has been involved in athletics since childhood and later tried her hand at futsal. At the age of 40, she returned to athletics, and in 2019, she began the process of gender transition.
Many representatives from various countries are opposed to Petrillo's participation, expressing concerns that she may have a physical advantage over her competitors.
Petrillo is set to compete in the 200m and 400m races.
The 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris will take place from August 28 to September 8.
