The WTA 125 tournament in Mumbai has reached its final stages and made headlines due to a remarkable age record set during the event.

Details: 15-year-old Indian tennis player Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi, who entered the tournament as a wildcard and does not even have a professional ranking, was not expected to make a deep run. However, she defied expectations by not only making it through the main draw but also reaching the semifinals.

Along the way, she defeated "neutral" player Iryna Shymanovich (WTA No. 225), former world No. 31 Zarina Diyas (WTA No. 353), and Mei Yamaguchi (WTA No. 285). In the semifinals, she will face fifth-seeded Swiss player Jil Teichmann (WTA No. 117).

With this achievement, Revathi has become the first player born in 2009 to reach the semifinals at a WTA 125-level tournament.

Reminder: Earlier, it was reported that world No. 1 Jannik Sinner could face a ban from tennis for up to two years.
