The Swedish phenomenon Armand “Mondo” Duplantis has once again rewritten athletics history, setting his 15th world record in the pole vault.
Details: At his home meet, the Mondo Classic in Uppsala, the 26-year-old soared over the bar at 6.31 meters. What truly stunned the crowd was the ease with which he did it: Duplantis cleared the record height on his very first attempt, cementing his status as the greatest athlete of our era—an athlete for whom limits simply do not exist.
Despite the presence of top contenders, including Greece’s Emmanouil Karalis and Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen, there was never any real challenge for gold. Duplantis first cleared 6.08 meters with ease, then immediately set his sights on the record-breaking jump.
In just a week, the new world record holder will travel to Poland to compete at the World Indoor Championships, where another record could be on the cards. His return to Toruń will be symbolic: it was at the “Arena Toruń” on February 8, 2020, that Duplantis set his very first world record (6.17 m).
Reminder: Polish track and field athlete and Olympian Robert Wolski has passed away.
