Strasbourg vs PSG: the Parisians are targeting a fourth straight win
On October 17, Strasbourg will host Paris Saint-Germain in Matchday 7 of France’s Ligue 1. The visitors face a tricky away assignment at the Meinau Stadium: the hosts know how to play attacking football, while the Parisians are gradually building momentum after an uneven start to the season.
Strasbourg must halt their slide
Liam Rosenior’s side have yet to find consistency. After six rounds, they have seven points and sit 11th in the table. Their start has been anything but straightforward: a heavy 4-0 defeat to Marseille was followed by wins over Lens (2-1) and Troyes (6-2), before draws with Monaco (1-1) and a 2-1 defeat to Paris. In the previous round, the Alsatians also fell to Nice.
The hosts’ problem lies not so much in creating chances as in defensive reliability. Conceding 12 goals in six games is a major concern ahead of a clash with one of the country’s most dangerous attacking teams.

Squad absences could make matters even more difficult. Joaquin Panichelli, Marshall Godo, Nanasi and Ismaël Doukouré are among the players whose availability is in doubt or who will be unable to help the team. The squad situation could change before kick-off.
PSG are gathering pace
The Parisians also took time to hit top gear. After six rounds, the team have 11 points and sit sixth, but their recent form is far more convincing: PSG have won three games in a row and are gradually closing in on leaders Monaco.
In the previous round, the Parisians beat Le Mans 3-1. Their attacking line has enough quality to break down even a compact defense, while Luis Enrique can adjust his lineups depending on the opposition.
Even so, the visitors cannot afford to relax. Eight goals conceded in six matches show that the defense is also prone to mistakes. PSG are also set to face Barcelona in the Champions League on October 21, making squad rotation a distinct possibility. Mayulu is the only officially confirmed absentee.
What can we expect from the match?
The head-to-head record favors the Parisians: Strasbourg have won just once in their last 18 meetings, while PSG have claimed 12 victories. However, in May 2025, the Alsatians defeated the Parisians 2-1 on home soil. The teams’ most recent meeting, in February 2026, ended with PSG winning by the same scoreline.
The hosts will certainly look to draw on the support from the stands and exploit space during quick attacks. But if the visitors take control of possession from the opening minutes, Strasbourg will find it difficult to withstand the pressure.
Prediction: PSG to win.
