CAS orders CAF to postpone AS Douanes v CR Belouizdad Confederation Cup tie
Following an appeal by Hafia FC, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has ordered CAF to postpone the two-legged tie in the second preliminary round, originally scheduled for between 17 and 25 October.
The Guinean club contested the decision by the Confederation of African Football to have the second leg of the first preliminary round of the 2026–2027 CAF Confederation Cup against AS Douanes replayed. After examining the application, the CAS issued an order for interim measures.
In particular, the Court of Arbitration for Sport noted that CAF’s decision invoking force majeure contained no reasoning, and that the Guinean club’s internal appeal to the CAF Appeals Panel, lodged as early as 16 September 2026, had remained unanswered.
Following this decision, AS Douanes of Mauritania and CR Belouizdad of Algeria will now have to await their two-legged tie in the second preliminary round of the Confederation Cup. The first leg was originally scheduled for 17 October 2026, and the second leg between 23 and 25 October 2026.
