The 10th-round Premier League clash between Brighton and Brentford will take place on November 8, 2026, at the Amex Stadium.

Both teams head into the meeting on the back of strong results in recent rounds, so we could be in for an intriguing contest. The Seagulls will look to continue their push for a place in the European qualification spots, while the visitors will try to move closer to the top five.

Brighton: victory over Manchester City provides a confidence boost

Brighton are enjoying a highly impressive season. After nine matches, the team have collected 19 points and sit third in the table. The Seagulls’ record stands at six wins, one draw and two defeats. Their goal difference is particularly striking — 24:7. That is one of the best records in the league at this stage.

At the same time, their recent results point to a team in genuinely excellent form. Brighton have won four of their last five Premier League matches, with Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Manchester City among the sides they have beaten. The latest round ended particularly sweetly for the fans, as the team defeated the Citizens 1:0 away from home.

The 5:0 thrashing of Crystal Palace and the 3:0 win over Arsenal also deserve special mention. It is clear that this team can do more than simply collect points against mid-table opponents — they can also cause serious problems for the league’s heavyweights.

One of the major attacking breakthroughs has been Charalampos Kostoulas, who has scored three league goals. Yasin Ayari has also found the net three times. Maxim De Cuyper plays a vital creative role as well, having already created 20 chances for his teammates. His overlapping runs and passing could prove key to unlocking Brentford’s defence.

However, the hosts are dealing with several personnel issues. Kaoru Mitoma, Evan Ferguson, Femi Aziz, Stefanos Tzimas and Zodok Yohana are all sidelined. Pascal Groß and Ferdi Kadıoğlu are among the players whose involvement requires further assessment. As a result, Brighton’s final lineup will depend on the medical reports ahead of the match.

Brentford: the Bees can surprise the favourites
The visitors head into the match in an intriguing position. After nine rounds, Brentford have 14 points and sit sixth in the table. The team have recorded three wins, five draws and just one defeat. Their goal difference is 16:9. In other words, they are not losing often, but they would certainly like to turn more of those draws into victories.

Their last five matches confirm that Brentford can compete with a wide range of opponents. They drew 2:2 with Aston Villa, lost 1:2 to Liverpool, shared the points with Hull in a 1:1 draw and then defeated Nottingham Forest 2:0. Their 3:0 victory over Chelsea is also well worth remembering.

Igor Thiago and Kevin Schade are the visitors’ main attacking hopes. Schade has already scored three league goals, with the Brazilian striker also on three. Schade is particularly dangerous because of his pace and ability to run in behind the defenders, while Thiago can be highly effective inside the penalty area.

The absence of several players will be an important factor. Yehor Yarmolyuk is suspended for the match. Josh Dasilva and Rico Henry are dealing with fitness issues, while Fábio Carvalho and Kaye Furo are also unavailable. Antonia Milambo remains doubtful.

At the same time, Brentford do not look like a team planning to simply sit deep and defend. The visitors know how to exploit open spaces, make active use of the flanks and pose a significant threat when transitioning quickly from defence to attack.

Tactics and what to expect from the match?

Brighton will most likely look to seize the initiative from the opening whistle. The hosts like to control possession, use short passing combinations and gradually work their way towards the opponent’s penalty area. De Cuyper could play an important role in this process, as he is capable of creating chances both with his passing and through his own forward runs.

Brentford are certain to rely on compactness and rapid counterattacks. The team may allow their opponents to dominate possession, but will look to make maximum use of the space behind the defenders. This is where Schade’s pace and Thiago’s movement could become serious weapons.

The midfield battle will also be fascinating to watch. If the hosts can win the ball back quickly after losing it, the visitors will struggle to launch their attacks. But if the Bees can play through the press, they will have good opportunities to create dangerous chances.

There is another interesting factor: Brighton have conceded just seven goals in nine rounds. The hosts’ defence looks highly reliable, so the visitors will have to work hard to find openings.

In my view, Brighton are deservedly considered the favourites. They are higher in the table, have looked more convincing overall and have been particularly strong in their recent home matches. The victories over Arsenal and Crystal Palace clearly demonstrate how dangerous the Seagulls can be on their own ground.

However, Brentford should certainly not be written off. The visitors are well organised, know how to punish mistakes and have players capable of making the most of even a limited number of chances.

I do not expect the hosts to secure an easy victory. Brentford will look to close down the spaces and make life as difficult as possible for Brighton’s attacking players. Nevertheless, home advantage and the hosts’ stronger current form should prove decisive.
I would make a Brighton win my primary pick. The under 3.5 goals market is also worth considering, given the hosts’ defensive reliability and the visitors’ likely cautious approach.

My prediction: Brighton to win.
