Manuel Neuer endured a first half against Mainz that he will want to forget as quickly as possible.

Details: Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer found himself at the centre of a dramatic episode during the Bundesliga clash with Mainz on November 7. Around the 40th minute, the experienced German goalkeeper made an unsuccessful intervention that allowed the home side to send the ball into the net. However, the goal was disallowed, sparing Bayern from conceding after their captain's mistake. Earlier in the match, Joshua Kimmich had given the visitors the lead in the 14th minute.

Unfortunately for Neuer, the disallowed goal was not the end of his troubles. The 40-year-old goalkeeper also suffered an injury and was unable to continue playing after the first half. He was substituted at the break, with Bayern forced to change goalkeepers after just 45 minutes.

The incident turned an already uncomfortable afternoon into an even more worrying one for the German champions. Although the referee's decision prevented Neuer's mistake from affecting the score, the injury created a separate concern for Bayern. The precise nature of the problem and the goalkeeper's potential recovery time have not yet been confirmed.

Interestingly, this match was also supposed to be a historic occasion for Neuer. At the age of 40 years and 225 days, he became Bayern Munich's oldest player to feature in a Bundesliga match, setting another remarkable milestone in his long career.
