Wimbledon bans fans from bringing Russian and Belarusian flags into stadiums

Russian and Belarusian flags have been banned from being brought into the Wimbledon tournament:

"Guests who try to bring flags into the territory will be given the opportunity to leave them in the luggage room or hand them over to the staff at the gate," said the press service of the tournament.

It should be noted that the athletes, who have citizenship of Russia or Belarus, perform in a neutral status.

In 2022, players from Russia and Belarus were not admitted to the grass majors, as well as to all tournaments in the UK because of the military invasion of Ukraine. Tennis organizations fined the Lawn Tennis Association 1.5 million pounds because of this, as well as deprived Wimbledon of rating points. Last year, tennis players from Russia and RB had to sign anti-war declarations and state their stance on Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

The matches of the main draw of Wimbledon-2024 will start on July 1.
