In May, Tyson Fury suffered his first professional defeat, losing to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in their battle for the undisputed heavyweight title. The two are set to face off again in a highly anticipated rematch on December 21. However, Fury has stated that he does not consider Usyk to be his toughest opponent.

Details: Speaking with Boxing News 24/7, Fury claimed that the most challenging opponent of his career was Deontay Wilder. According to the former champion, their bouts occurred during Wilder’s peak, and one mistake could have cost him the fight.

Quote: "I would still say the toughest [opponent] was Deontay Wilder. When I fought him, he was at the top of his game. He was a beast of the heavyweight division. He was a puncher with dynamite in his fists. One mistake in a fight with him, and you were done for – whether it was the first round or the twelfth.

Deontay was always my main target. I watched him and thought, 'Wow!' I saw how his punches would make his opponents' legs give out. I saw how he would 'turn off the lights' for his opponents, leaving them motionless on the canvas. If you compare his knockout highlights, he ranks among the greatest knockout artists of all time – perhaps even the greatest."

Reminder: Fury and Wilder faced off three times. Their first encounter ended in a draw, but Fury knocked out Wilder in the next two bouts. Notably, during those two fights, Fury was knocked down four times himself.
