“What Happened Is Not Normal” – Senegal Coach Pape Thiaw Slams Team Security Ahead of AFCON 2025 Final With Morocco

Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw has expressed strong frustration over the security arrangements surrounding his team, following what he described as a “dangerous and unacceptable” incident involving his players.

Speaking to the media ahead of Senegal’s final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group-stage match against Morocco, Thiaw did not hold back, stressing that the safety of his squad was seriously compromised.

“What happened yesterday is abnormal. A team like Senegal can’t go down and find themselves in the middle of the crowd like that. The players were in danger. Anything could have happened, facing ill-intentioned people.”
