Tensions are running high after the AFCON 2025 final.

Details: Today it was revealed that the Moroccan Football Federation has announced its intention to file an official complaint with CAF and FIFA regarding the conduct of Senegal's players at the end of the match, when they left the pitch without permission after a penalty was awarded against them.

"The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announces its intention to take legal action with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), demanding a decision regarding the Senegalese national team's withdrawal from the pitch during the final against Morocco, as well as the circumstances surrounding this decision, after the referee awarded a penalty that was deemed correct by all experts. This situation had a significant impact on the match and on the players' performance." the statement reads.

The Moroccan side believes the penalty awarded against Senegal was fair—even though Díaz failed to convert it—yet the behavior of Senegal's players sparked a storm of criticism and dissatisfaction across the football community. It took Senegal captain Sadio Mané to convince his teammates to abandon their protest and return to the pitch.

In the end, Senegal did return to the field and went on to win the match, thanks to a solitary goal by Pape Gueye in the 94th minute of extra time.
