Ferguson, it should be recalled, managed Manchester United from 1986 to 2013 and is regarded as the greatest manager in the club's history. During that time, the Scot led the team to 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and two Champions League triumphs.
Manchester United last won the league title in the 2012/13 season, which was Ferguson's final campaign in charge of the team. Since his departure, the Red Devils have not won the English league title again.
