WAFCON 2026: Michaely Bihina is making a lasting impression with her outstanding performances

The goalkeeper for Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses has distinguished herself with top-class performances in the decisive matches.

Michaely Bihina is making a name for herself at this Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The Cameroonian goalkeeper is delivering exceptional performances.

Against Nigeria in the quarter-finals of WAFCON 2026, Michaely Bihina put in a remarkable performance with nine saves. It was she who enabled Cameroon to withstand the Super Falcons’ attacks and secure their place in the semi-finals.

On the night of Wednesday 12 August, the Cameroonian put in another masterclass against Morocco in the semi-final. Bihina kept the Moroccans at bay throughout the match. The Cameroonian goalkeeper made three saves during the match, before saving a penalty in extra time.

During the penalty shootout, Michaely Bihina also distinguished herself by saving three of Morocco’s penalties. She helped Cameroon reach the final of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

Since the start of the tournament, Michaely Bihina has kept three clean sheets. Thanks to her performances, she has been named Woman of the Match on two occasions.
