“I studied how Moroccan players shoot,” Bihina reveals how she prepared for her heroics in the semi-final of WAFCON 2026

The Indomitable Lionesses’ goalkeeper distinguished herself with an exceptional performance, enabling Cameroon to secure their place in the final against Morocco, the host nation.

Michaely Bihina has been in superb form at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The Cameroonian goalkeeper particularly stood out in the semi-final on Wednesday 11 August against Morocco.

She made three crucial saves during the match, stopping a penalty in extra time before saving three Moroccan attempts in the penalty shootout. Following this outstanding performance, Bihina revealed how she had prepared for this crucial match.

“As for the penalties, I’d been studying the Moroccan players’ shooting styles throughout the tournament. I told myself that if we went to a penalty shootout, I had to save at least three. I saved the first penalty during the match and thought to myself, ‘If we go to a penalty shoot-out, I can do even better’.”

Michaely Bihina has kept three clean sheets since the start of the tournament. She was unbeatable against Ghana, Nigeria and Morocco.
