WAFCON 2026: Cameroon head coach Valentine Nguele issues a warning to Morocco ahead of the semi-final
On the eve of the clash between the Indomitable Lionesses and the Atlas Lionesses, the Cameroonian manager has emphasised her team’s determination.
Cameroon and Morocco face off on Wednesday 12 August in the semi-final of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. This highly anticipated clash pits the host nation against Cameroon, with both sides aiming for the title.
At a press conference ahead of the match, the head coach of the Indomitable Lionesses admitted that her team is expecting a tough match against the host nation. However, Valentine Nguele refuses to focus on her opponents’ status.
“In your opinion, which is easier: playing the host nation in the semi-final or Nigeria? But I’ll tell you this: at this stage of the competition, we no longer get to choose our opponents. There’s no more room for tactical calculations; you simply have to face whoever stands before you.
We just need to prepare well and rally the girls who are set to play against the host nation in front of their home crowd. The girls must give their all so that there are no regrets and, above all, so that they enjoy the game.”
